Privacy Policy — QR & Barcode Toolkit

Last updated: October 24, 2026

QR & Barcode Toolkit ("the app") is developed by Gaurav ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app accesses, what we do with it, and your choices. We wrote it to match exactly what the app does — not a generic template.

Summary

Scanning, making codes, and your scan/generate history all happen on your phone and stay there. There is no account, no login, and no server we operate that stores your data. Data leaves your device only in these cases, each described below: ads (Google AdMob), the one-time Pro purchase (Google Play Billing), Google Play's rating prompt, and anything you choose to share or email yourself.

Camera

The app requests camera access only to let you scan QR codes and barcodes. Camera frames are processed on-device to detect codes and are never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere, by us or by any third party.

What we store locally on your device

The app saves the following only in local storage on your device (not on any server we control), and you can clear it at any time by uninstalling the app:

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version of the app shows ads served by Google AdMob: banner ads on some screens, a native ad in your history list, and optional rewarded ads that you can choose to watch to unlock one Pro export. Ads are never shown on the camera screen. According to Google, its Mobile Ads SDK automatically collects data such as your device's IP address (which can give a general idea of your location), how you interact with the app and ads, diagnostic information, and device identifiers such as the advertising ID. This data is used for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention, is shared with Google, and is encrypted in transit. It is governed by Google's Partner Sites policy. Where required by your region's law (including the EEA, UK, and certain U.S. states), the app shows a consent form before loading any ads, using Google's User Messaging Platform. You can review or change your ad consent choice at any time from the app's Settings screen under "Ad privacy settings".

Purchasing the Pro upgrade removes ads. When you open the app as a Pro user, the ad SDK is not started and no ads are requested. You can limit ad personalization in your device's Google settings (on many phones under Settings → Google → Ads), where you can also reset or delete your advertising ID.

Purchases (Google Play Billing)

The one-time Pro purchase is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment details — Google processes the transaction and shares only the purchase confirmation with the app, which is stored locally on your device as described above.

Support emails and diagnostics

If you tap "Contact support" in Settings, the app asks whether to add technical details to the email. If you say yes, the draft includes the app version, your phone's operating system, and the last few error messages from the app's local error log. These error messages can occasionally contain text that was being processed, such as a scanned code. The email opens in your own mail app, and you can read, edit or delete anything before sending it. We receive only what you send.

Rating prompt

After you have used the app for a while, it may ask you to rate it using Google Play's in-app review. Google Play decides whether and how the prompt appears. We don't see your answer; a rating or review you choose to post is public on Google Play like any other review.

Photos and sharing

If you scan a code from a photo or add a logo to a QR code, you pick the image yourself with your phone's photo picker. It is processed on your device and is not uploaded by the app. When you tap Share, your phone's share sheet opens and the content goes only where you choose to send it.

Links you choose to open

When you tap "Open" on a scanned link, "Search online", or a support/email link in Settings, the app hands that off to your device's browser or mail app. We don't track which links you open.

Children

The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from children. Advertising content is restricted to a general-audience rating in our ad network configuration.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy. This policy is a description of how the app works and is not legal advice.
